Jo Bainbridge

An experienced coach and companion, originally from the UK and now a US citizen, Jo developed a passion for connection, travel, and culture at a young age with her paternal grandfather teaching her French so she could communicate with new friends as a child while on camping holidays in France and Europe.

Jo lived and worked in Japan from 2002 to 2010 before moving to the US for her MA in Clinical Psychology.

As a psychodynamically-informed psychotherapist in Los Angeles, Jo worked with clients from culturally diverse populations including adolescents, young adults, seniors and LGBTQ+, ultimately leading her to specialize in recovery from substance abuse, trauma, sexual assault, eating disorders, PTSD, psychiatric and behavioral health disorders.

In facilitating long-term, sustainable recovery with clients Jo has been able to assist in catalyzing life-changing positive shifts and breakthroughs for individuals for whom recovery may have seemed out of reach. Jo finds it a privilege to support individuals, loved ones and families on their courageous path of recovery, with clients sharing she makes them feel safe, seen and encouraged while holding firm on boundaries and delivering a consistent kindness filtered through both a clinical lens and the lens of woman in her own long-term recovery.

Jo has tremendous respect, empathy and care for anyone who chooses to get well, firmly believing that it’s never too late – or too early – to begin the recovery process and co-create a life of abundance, freedom and happiness. 

Jo enjoys spending time with her daughter, family and friends, advocating for people and animals, creating and appreciating art, fashion, music, culture and traveling when possible, having now lived, worked and traveled in more than fifty countries.
